Configuring SharePoint – Add the path to STSADM to the Command Prompt

 

Overview

There are a few little things that you should always do when installing SharePoint that save a lot of time.  The first and for most is add the path to STSADM to the environment settings of your command prompt.  I feel punished whenever this is not setup! ;-)

 Steps:

1.  Find and copy the path to stsadm:

2.  Open up your System Properties (Right click on My Computer and select Properties for System Properties)

3.  Click on Advanced then Environmental Variables then under System Variables click on Path and Edit

4.  Add the path to STSADM at the end of the statement.  Make sure that you use a semicolon to separate paths.
